If you’ve been holding out for a solid Google Pixel deal since the launch of the Pixel 7 series, Amazon may have just the ticket for you today. Right now, the retailer is discounting the previous-gen Google Pixel 6 with a 256GB capacity by $279. That drops the price of this configration down to a new all-time low of $420 making this the perfect deal for those who don’t need the latest and greatest flagship but still want an Android phone with decent specs.
In comparing the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7, we found that the two phones aren’t all that different, so you’re not sacrificing a lot by going for the 2021 model. The Pixel 6 has a 6.4-inch display, slightly larger than its successor’s, and has the same dual-camera setup featuring a 50-megapixel wide lens and a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens. The battery of the Pixel 6 is slightly larger than the one in the 2022 model at 4,614 mAh for a battery life of up to 24 hours on a single charge. The RAM stayed the same at 8GB, the under-screen fingerprint sensor is still onboard, and the overall design language is similar, too.
If you can live without the Pixel 7’s improved front-facing camera and face unlock feature, the slightly speedier Tensor G2 chip and the under-the-hood zoom enhancements in the rear camera, it’s well worth considering the Pixel 6 instead. And, unlike many other Pixel deals, there’s no trade-in or activation required to qualify for today’s discount — it’s simply a direct price drop on the unlocked 256GB model.
